Jerry Gibbons, CPA, Managing Member
Jerry Gibbons is a CPA, with over 20 years of successful public practice in Mobile, Alabama and has taught accounting in numerous countries around the world. He is the managing member of Gibbons Company,LLC. His clients represent a broad spectrum of the business community including real estate development, contractors, manufacturing, software development, startup companies, and local franchise owners. In the mid-1990s Jerry began teaching at the U.S. Sports Academy and has traveled to many Asian and Indonesian countries to teach accounting to Olympic committee members.
After graduation from the University of South Alabama, Jerry followed his father into public accounting. He has developed expertise in financial management of small business, taxation and audit of multi-state contractors, and professional sport teams. His firm participates in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) peer review program. Jerry is a member of the AICPA; Alabama Society of CPAs and a committee member for Accounting Standards, a counsel representative to ASCPA for the Mobile Chapter of ASCPA, as well as Past President. The Mobile Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of Alabama have recognized him with numerous awards and commendations for his sucess in business and support of the community.
Jerry lives on the water just south of Mobile with his wife and a wide variety of animal companions. An avid gulf fisherman, he spends much of his leisure time in his Grady White in pursuit of sport fish. He and his wife also enjoy traveling throughout the world.
Chris Goodrich, CPA, CFE
Chris Goodrich is a CPA and has been practicing public accounting for over 11 years. Chris received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama in August 1993. In October 2005, Chris earned the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Chris joined Gibbons Company, LLC in October 2005. He specializes in providing accounting, auditing and consulting services for many clients in the for-profit and non-profit industries.
Chris is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Alabama Society of CPAs (ASCPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Mobile Chapter of the ASCPA. He currently serves as a Council Member of the ASCPA. Chris served as president of the Mobile Chapter of the ASCPA for the 2003 - 2004 term, and has also served all other board positions with the chapter.
Chris is a lifelong resident of Mobile. Chris' wife is a high school teacher and together they have an 18 month old little girl and another girl on the way.
Michael Fobes
Michael Fobes is a CPA who has been in public practice with international, regional and local accounting firms in Mobile, Alabama for over 30 years. He is a native Mobilian and graduated from the University of South Alabama. Mike joined Gibbons Company in December 2006. His practice has been focused on taxation and consulting for the healthcare industry, and also working with high income, high net worth individuals. He is a member of the AICPA’s Tax Section.
Mike’s clients run the gamut from retailers to professional practices to estates and trusts. In his tax practice, he works with all types of small businesses and individuals. He consults with healthcare providers, particularly dental offices, to assure they are running efficiently and effectively. He is particularly interested in helping young doctors start their own practices.
Mike and his wife Barbara enjoy the beach, music and theater. He also likes to play golf and fish.
Gene Gibbons, Member Emeritus
Gene is the founding member of Gibbons Company, LLC. Gene graduated from Spring Hill College with a degree in Business Administration. After a tour of duty in the Army and work with the FBI, he began the practice in 1962. His primary areas of expertise include multi-state taxation for corporations, professionals, and individuals, as well as estate planning, litigation support, business valuations, and SEC filing. His industry expertise includes wholesale distributors, marine builders and manufacturers, oil field leasing, and oil and gas companies.
Gene Gibbons began the accounting practice that has begun Gibbons Company, LLC, in 1962. Along the way some smaller firms have been acquired to expand our areas of service and staff support. Jerry Gibbons, is the current managing member. We have a staff of eight full-time personnel and two part-time accountants. The clients we serve include the automotive recycling, construction, estates and trust, health care, individuals, law firms, manufacturing, nonprofit associations, real estate development and partnerships, restaurants, technology, and wholesale/retail businesses.
We are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants(AICPA Alliance for CPA Firms). This is an exclusive voluntary organization that requires members to maintain high standards of quality control and to pass a peer review, consisting of an extensive examination of the firm's quality systems and procedures, every three years. We are also members of Private Company Practice Sections and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants and Mobile County Chapter of CPAs. Gibbons Company, LLC is a member of the Business Council of Alabama.
